Due to the slate rock formation abundant on the site and the surrounding area i set out to create a piece of architecture that nestled into the hillside and expressed the natural horizontal banding of the slate. The minimalist design of the building allowed the architecture to fully engage and embrace its landscape while still being distinctly its own entity.
The Horizontal banding continues along all relevant interior walls. The use of the banding in addition to the use of perspective shows off the depth the material acquires as it grows more distant.
